Josh Blakesley wins spiritandsong.com’s March Music Madness
Josh Blakesley’s “Come to Jesus” took the title this week in the championship round of spiritandsong.com’s fourth annual March Music Madness contest. The annual online competition is modeled after the brackets of the NCAA college basketball tournament. Participants listen to spiritandsong.com tracks and vote on their favorite songs to determine a champion.
All spiritandsong.com artists began the competition on Monday, March 12, 2007, with at least two songs in competition. Blakesley was assured of a win when two of his three songs in the competition faced off in the title match-up. “Come to Jesus” ultimately triumphed over the funky “Be Lifted High.”
“The thing that I’ve found most satisfying about ‘Come to Jesus’ is its versatility,” says Blakesley. “I’ve used it in concerts and praise and worship venues. It can also be used for gathering, offertory, or Communion. It’s great throughout Ordinary Time, but also has powerful significance during Lent or Advent. It’s always amazing to watch how God chooses to use a song.”
Also making the Final Four were Julie Hoy’s “Holy Spirit, Come to Me” and Matt Maher’s “Your Grace Is Enough.” For more information on March Music Madness, visit www.spiritandsong.com/march.
