Mercy Sister Julia Upton is provost and professor of liturgy and sacramental theology at St. John's University in Jamaica, New York. She holds a B.A. in English from Ohio Dominican College, an M.A. in theology from St. John's University, and a Ph.D. from Fordham University. A member of the North American Academy of Liturgy (NAAL), she is the convener for the section on liturgy and culture. Her most recent book is A Time for Embracing: Reclaiming Reconciliation (Liturgical Press, 1999). She is also the author of Becoming a Catholic Christian.
