Antoine Oomen is one of the leading liturgical composers in the Netherlands. Born in Amsterdam, he became a church organist at the age of 10 and entered the Amsterdam Music Conservatory as a piano student the same year. After graduating, he returned to win the highly coveted Prix d’Excellence.

At the age of 12, he became college organist at Ignatius Chapel until invited to become organist for the Student Church. It was there he first met poet Huub Oosterhuis, a pioneer of the vernacular liturgical movement in the Netherlands. Antoine continues to compose for Oosterhuis, and has more than 100 published selections in the Amsterdam Liturgical Songbook.

Antoine’s music can be challenging and emotional, as he writes to reach the hearts of the performing musicians, choir and assembly. His music career has taken him to concert halls throughout Europe. He has conducted liturgical music workshops across the United States and in Great Britain.
