Glenn CJ Byer was born and raised on a farm near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He has written widely on the liturgy, including articles on the meaning of the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, on marriage preparation, on the renovation of churches and most recently on the anointing of the sick. He has been a consultant on church construction and renovation projects. He speaks widely on the role of lay ministers in the Mass. His work in liturgy led to a post as professor of liturgy at Kenrick School of Theology in St. Louis, Missouri. He taught three years for the Paul VI Catechetical Institute, also in St. Louis. Glenn has served on the liturgy commissions of three archdioceses, Edmonton, Baltimore and St. Louis. He received a master's in liturgy from the University of Notre Dame in 1987 and a sacred liturgy doctorate (SLD) from San Anselmo in Rome in 1994. Glenn is the co-author with Mary Jo Tully and Paulette McCoy of The Catholic Catechist's Companion and with Msgr. William Belford and Michael R. Prendergast of Parish Liturgy Basics. Currently, Glenn is the e-products and services manager at OCP. He lives in Portland, Oregon.
