Pilgrimage to Oberammergau September 3-16, 2010
Msgr. Chuck Lienert of St. Andrew’s Parish is leading a 14-day pilgrimage to Berlin, Dresden, Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, and Lucerne. We visit Neuschwanstein Castle, the most photographed building in Germany.
The highlight of the pilgrimage will be attendance at the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Bavaria. Performances began in the middle of the Thirty Years War. After months of suffering and death from the plague, the people of Oberammergau swore an oath that they would perform the "Play of the Suffering, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ" every 10 years. The year 2010 marks the 41st performance.
