Bernard gives us the inside story to Mass of Christ the Redeemer. How does this setting engage parishioners at Mass?
Experience has led me to believe that the best music to engage the assembly is that which has good melodic lines and phrasing, and is instinctively intuitive to the participant. With this in mind, I composed Mass of Christ the Redeemer to possess interesting rhythms and leading harmonies, making it inviting, yet challenging!

What was your inspiration for Mass of Christ the Redeemer?
The parish church next to my primary school was called “Holy Redeemer.” It’s an appellation we don’t hear very often these days, and I think the title keeps with the tone of the new translations.
