Julie give us the inside story to Mass of Simplicity. How does this setting engage parishioners at Mass?
In ten-plus years of cantoring weekly Masses for children at Queen of Peace Catholic School in Salem, Oregon, I noticed the children would not sing the Mass parts with me. When I asked why, the overwhelming response was "They're too hard to sing and they're too long!" I wanted to do my best to keep the parts simple for Catholics of all ages.

What was your inspiration for Mass of Simplicity?
I am dedicating the Mass of Simplicity to the memory of Fr. Slider Steuernol. On the day of Fr. Slider's death, I found the strength to tackle the Gloria. I felt the inspiration of his faith, courage and love for the priesthood spurring me on. « Hide
