Bob gives us the inside story to Mass of the Incarnate Word. How does this setting engage parishioners at Mass?
My aim was to provide easy melodic lines for the assembly and also allow for embellishment with choral parts and additional instrumentation. This means it can be done by various forms of music ministry, ranging from a cantor and keyboardist, to a small ensemble, to a large parish or cathedral choir.

What was your inspiration for Mass of the Incarnate Word?
Over the years, many people have shared with me their sense that this Mass has a more "transcendent" character than many other settings. Given the chance to revise it, I wanted to associate it with the Gospel of John, traditionally called the spiritual gospel.
