The genre of Celtic music has grown over the years to encompass everything from traditional tunes to modern fusion pieces played on Celtic instruments. Solas An Chroí has some of both. The 14 instrumental pieces are inspired by meditations on God, faith and life and incorporate elements of ancient Celtic traditions and melodies.

Their hauntingly beautiful music is played mostly on traditional Celtic instruments — tin whistle, uillean pipe, fiddle, Celtic harp, and bodhran, in addition to guitar, flute, cello, bass guitar, piano, synthesizer, saxophone and various percussion instruments. The musical selection is varied, from the plaintive notes of the fiddle in "The Quiet Land" to the uillean pipes of "By The Lough Shore" and melodies from around the world in the title song "Solas An Chroí."
