Awake, My Soul contains 24 original hymn texts by Father Harry, a Benedictine monk at St. Meinrad Archabbey and professor of Old Testament at St. Meinrad School of Theology. The two hymn tunes suggested for each title feature early American tunes from the Southern Harmony and Sacred Harp traditions.

Father Harry has written texts for morning prayer, noon prayer, compline, general occasions, and feasts and seasons, with brief notes for each text. A thorough index provides cross-references to 16 major hymnals. Awake, My Soul is an excellent resource for music directors, composers, singers and hymn enthusiasts.
