Amanecer

Peter Rubalcava's first collection with OCP, Amanecer features songs in Spanish and bilingual songs in English and Spanish.

It is a versatile resource for the multicultural parish. It provides music for seasons and celebrations throughout the liturgical year, including Advent, Lent, Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Pentecost.

Newly remastered for the highest sound quality, the recording features an "all-star" choir -- with guests Jaime Cortez and Cyprian Consiglio -- and Peter Rubalcava on lead vocals, guitar, guitarrón and vihuela.

Produced by Cyprian Consiglio, Amanecer was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Mexican-American Performance category.

This is joyful, energetic music in a variety of styles. "Amanecer" (Dawn) is a beautiful song suited for morning prayer. Its spare arrangement for drums, acoustic guitar, and a haunting flute gives it a traditional, Native American sound. Other songs display Caribbean, contemporary and Mariachi styles, featuring piano, violins, Latin percussion, accordion, marimba and trumpet.

Amanecer contains music for gathering, reconciliation, responsorial psalms, Marian feasts, evening prayer and Communion.
