Like Tengo Sed de Ti, each of these songs is a musical meditation on a particular psalm. This recording, though, is acoustic, unplugged. It's just Hermana Glenda: this unassuming nun from Chile, with her simple gray habit and oval eyeglasses, her beautiful voice and her guitar. Con Nostalgia de Ti (with yearning for you) is a pure and simple musical experience, powerful and intimate. You feel as if you've been invited to a private moment in which she's pouring her heart out to Jesus in song and prayer. To hear her music, to witness her prayer, serves to renew our own relationship with Him. Knowing that heaven is its true home, the Christian soul suffers from "nostalgia" or homesickness for union with God in the new Jerusalem. Based on Psalm 136/137, the title track expresses hope for a return: "I hope to return to you. I hope to return to love you." Calm and soothing, the music of Hermana Glenda makes an excellent background for retreats, meditation and prayer. It's also wonderful listening any time we need a respite from the hurry and noise of the world. (Sung entirely in Spanish.) Includes bonus track: Quicktime video featuring an interview with Hermana Glenda and beautiful footage of her singing some of her best-known songs.
