Step Into Freedom/Paso a la Libertad (Anaheim 2006)

For the 2006 Los Angeles Religious Education Congress theme song, songwriting genius Bob Halligan Jr. teamed up with Grammy-nominee Pedro Rubalcava. The result is a quirky, contemporary, bilingual song inviting us to leave behind fear and follow Christ''s call to a life of freedom.

Backed by the button accordion, harmonica, saxophone and other distinctive instruments of Ceili Rain, the song reflects both Celtic and Latin styles. Bob and Pedro share lead vocals in English and Spanish. Easy to sing and just plain fun, "Step into Freedom/Paso a la Libertad" will stick in the minds and hearts of attendees for years to come.

This extended-play single CD also contains "Stand Up," the theme song for this year''s Youth Day. Marked by driving guitars and drums, this new composition by Josh Blakesley calls us to recognize our dependence on God, then stand up and "proclaim the glory of his name."

The disc includes a bonus track: Trevor Thomson''s gentle, easy-paced "We Belong to You." Featuring silky parts for violin and tin whistle, and lush vocals and harmonies, it affirms our identity as God''s people: "In our daily living, dying and rising, we belong to you."
