These are the original recordings of the 17 songs from the OCP showcase presented at NPM 2015.
A wide range of styles
From contemporary songs and choral anthems to multilingual pieces and more, this playlist offers a nice sampling of the different styles and genres of music that OCP publishes. You'll find songs for women's voices, seasonal music and songs for Communion and gathering as well as new arrangements of traditional hymns. Some of the songs also feature new hymn texts by well-known writers like M.D. Ridge, Kate Bluett and Genevieve Glen, OSB.
New songs from the past year
Consider these 17 songs some of the highlights from the past year or so, songs like "Ashes to Ashes" from veteran composer Dan Schutte, a lovely addition to any Ash Wednesday service. A song of discipleship, Tim Smith's "Changing Lives Together" encourages us to follow in Christ's footsteps. It was a bonus track from his Mass setting CD that was released in late 2014. Bernadette Farrell's "Did You Know," written in memory of a young man who lost his life in East London, is a song of hope, a song that reminds us of God's omniscient presence.
Great additions for any repertoire
All the songs on the playlist are appropriate for liturgy and are a great way for parishes to add some new pieces to their repertoire. Octavos for all songs can be purchased on ocp.org.
