David Haas

Bio

David Haas has been engaged in music and pastoral ministry his entire adult life. He studied vocal music performance and conducting at Central Michigan University, and has a degree in theology and music from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.  In 1999, he began the program MUSIC MINISTRY ALIVE!, a five-day liturgical program for youth and adult leaders. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from the University of Portland in Oregon.  

Highly regarded as one of the preeminent liturgical music composers in the English-speaking world, David’s liturgical works have appeared in OCP missals and hymnals like Breaking Bread, Choral Praise, and Journeysongs. He is the author of more than 20 books in the areas of music, liturgy, religious education, youth ministry, prayer and spirituality.

He and his wife, Helen, live in Eagan, Minnesota, where he serves as campus minister and director of the liturgical choir at Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul.
