In a world that moves too fast, Wait for the Moment, Julie Hoy's latest album, offers some much-needed encouragement. Built on Scripture, her solid Catholic faith and her experience as a mom, wife and daughter, these 14 original folk-pop ballads are a musical tonic for the modern soul.

Each track has its own personality and story, ranging in style from earthy acoustic to old-school Memphis blues. The title track, easy-paced pop gem, affirms God's perfect timing-and the "hard part" of waiting patiently and trustingly. "Creation," based on a poem by her daughter, is a quirky, contemporary hymn of praise for the "guy in the sky" who made the grass that "smells oh so nice." "Blessed Are They," an inspiring setting of Psalm 84, was included in the new Spirit & Song 2 contemporary songbook.

Loaded with charm, "Queen of Peace School Song" features the enthusiastic voices of 160 students from the K-6 school at Julie's home parish. "Have You Met My Jesus?" is a fun, bluesy, rollicking number written by Julie's husband. "As for Me and My House" is a clever round that begs for audience participation. Other highlights include "One More Hug," a gorgeous bilingual song dedicated to Julie's friends at an orphanage in Mexico.

The music is performed with the usual verve and polish by Julie's house band, Jason Carter on drums and percussion, Tom Nunes on bass, John Fresk on keyboard, Dan Balmer and Mark Lemhouse on guitars, and her brothers and sister Scott, Shawn and Devin on background vocals.

It's been a year or so since Julie's last release. The ear-pleasing, faith-building original songwriting on Wait for the Moment is well worth the wait.
