Barney Walker has been involved with church music for over 42 years. An
accomplished keyboard artist, he has served as pianist or organist for a multitude of churches, including Catholic, Protestant, and evangelical. His wide range of experience
has allowed him to write in a variety of musical styles from Gregorian chant to
English anthem and gospel. Barney served 28 years in the United States Naval music program and has many years of experience as an accomplished composer, recording artist, jazz pianist, conductor, opera director, and university instructor. A widely sought lecturer on the art of writing for various ensembles, he has composed, accompanied or arranged for Anne Jillian, Vic Damone, Clark Terry, Beverly Sills, and Bob Hope. Since 1998, he has collaborated with OCP composer Gael Berberick. Together they have written an extensive body of religious songs and liturgical music. In 2004, they collaborated with OCP composer Kevin Keil, writing new repertoire reflecting a diversity of liturgical styles. In 2006, they released the ASCAP award winning CD, "Through the Eyes of Faith." Currently, Barney is the director of music for St. Joan of Arc Church in Lisle, Illinois.
