Bread of Heaven

The refrain of this Communion song combines several Old Testament Eucharistic images with the words of gratitude from Psalm 30. The verses carry this theme forward with words from Psalm 36 describing God’s providential care with the final verse connecting all of this to Jesus as the Bread of Life (John 6:35). Written in a bluesy, gospel feel, this SATB choir setting may be used throughout the year for Communion and also for the Preparation of the Gifts.
