Truth in the Heart

"Here is a little gem from Bob Hurd. The refrain employs the text of Psalm 51:8: "Lord, you love truth in the heart; then in the secret of my heart teach me wisdom." While generally suitable throughout the year for Communion, the "Composer Notes" tell us that this piece is particularly appropriate for some twenty Sundays of the liturgical year. The music is very easy and will be effective with a cantor or choir singing the short unison verses, which can be accompanied by guitar and/or any type of keyboard instrument. The refrain—which is lovely—can be sung in unison, or the choir could add the SATB harmonies that support the melody. The flute (or perhaps other C instrument parts) will enhance the loveliness of this useful setting. Worth looking into!"
