Elaine Rendler-McQueeney

Bio

Elaine Rendler-McQueeney is a nationally recognized musician, teacher, author, composer, pastoral liturgist and speaker. She holds a doctor of musical arts degree (DMA) in organ performance from The Catholic University of America. She is associate professor of music theory at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. For many years she was the director of the Georgetown Chorale in Washington, DC. Elaine is perhaps best known as the editor of Today’s Liturgy, the quarterly liturgy preparation magazine from OCP. She has been writing the weekly columns and music suggestions in Today’s Liturgy for more than 30 years, offering practical wisdom to generations of pastoral musicians.

Elaine is the composer of Keyboard Praise, Volumes 1 and 2, a collection of organ arrangements based on traditional and contemporary hymn tunes. She is also the artist behind The Seven Last Words of Christ, a recording of French composer Theodore Dubois’ famous choral work. Elaine is also the author of two books: This Is the Day and In the Midst of the Assembly, collections of her best columns from Today’s Liturgy. She is co-author of Celebrating Marriage, Revised Edition.

Elaine leads events around the country, working with parishes and dioceses to focus on the preparation of ministers and selecting the music for the liturgy.

Currently Elaine lives in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, where she is music director and organist at her home parish.
