Timothy R. Smith

Timothy R. Smith (TR Smith) is known for his creative and versatile musical styles. A gifted composer and long-time music minister, he combines traditional and contemporary musical idioms in a way that is accessible to listeners and worshiping assemblies.

Tim has performed extensively with his band, TR Smith & The Sacred Music Boys. Combining rock, blues, pop and classical styles, this work culminated in the May 2006 release of Persuaded, his sixth CD. Springing from both his musical and faith experience, this riveting, heart-felt song cycle tells the story of our common journey of commitment to God: from fear to faith, from doubt to trust, from pride to surrender.

He has traveled throughout the country teaching parishes about their role as ministers of music. Some of Tim's best-known liturgical compositions include "Voice of Christ," "Angels Come in Celebration," "Mother of Jesus" and "In Every Age". His music collections include Praise the Name, With the Lord and Blessed Assurance.

Tim has a bachelor of music degree from Michigan State University and master of music degree from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan. He and his wife, Kim, live in Michigan with their three children.
