Colin Mawby is internationally known as a choral composer and conductor. He has worked extensively in both the liturgical and secular fields and has a vast knowledge of church choirs. For many years he was master of music at Westminster Cathedral. Colin has also directed a children's choir in a small rural Irish parish.
Colin's music is widely known and extensively published and recorded. His song "The Lord Is My Shepherd" was chosen for the famous Sony CD Voice of an Angel, featuring Charlotte Church. His "Ave Verum" was released by Westminster Cathedral Choir and the City of London Sinfonia on the Warner-Classics label. He has had compositions published in Dr J Butz
Musikvrlag, Edition Ferrimontana (Germany), Eurarte, Casa Musicale Carrara (Italy), Encore Publications, Banks Music Publications, and Kevin Mayhew Publishers, (England).
For 10 years, Colin was the artistic director of the National Chamber Choir of Ireland, Ireland's only professional choir and one of Europe's finest. He and the choir were recognized throughout Ireland for their educational programs and work with underprivileged children.
In 2006, Colin was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI to be a "Knight of St. Gregory" to honor his services to church music over the years. He is a composer in association with the pro Cathedral in Dublin.
