Roger Hernández

BiographyCompositions
Roger Hernández is an accomplished composer. He studied music in Cuba, where he was born, and at Miami Bay Community College. At age 11, Roger began singing in a Cuban choir, where he discovered his musical talents. He worked at Saint Dominic Church where he played guitar and composed music with Cuban rhythms for liturgy. In order to give a new rhythm to liturgical music, he has used Carribean percussion instruments such as tumbadoras, maracas, claves and güiro. For Roger, "music should be an echo of the culture."

For many years, Roger has directed the Hispanic choir at Prince of Peace Church, and he sings in the archdiocesan choir of Miami.
