Lourdes Montgomery was born in Havana, Cuba, and came to the United States at the age of five. For many years, she was music director at Mother of Christ Catholic Church in Miami, Florida. Lourdes also served the nearby parish of St. Kevin as youth choir director for Masses in English and school liturgies. She studied jazz piano at Miami-Dade Community College and music composition and classical piano at the University of Miami.
Lourdes composes music for the liturgy in both English and Spanish. Her first collection of liturgical music,
De la Cruz a la Gloria, is now available from OCP. She has traveled to the Dominican Republic with Tom Tomaszek to teach new music to people in rural areas. Lourdes has been a presenter at OCP’s Keys to Vibrant Worship conferences.
She now lives in Arkansas with her husband, Michael, and their two children.
Lourdes's extensive experience as a pastoral musician makes her an excellent leader of workshops on the connection between music and liturgy in Hispanic and bilingual parish communities.
