BiographyProductsCompositions
Genevieve Glen, OSB, is a Benedictine nun at the Abbey of St. Walburga in Virginia Dale, Colorado, and a highly regarded author, poet and composer of hymn texts. As prioress of the community, she is responsible for creating an education curriculum for the women in formation, to be staffed by herself and a number of the nuns qualified to teach.

In 2003, Sister Genevieve received an award for her writing in Magnificat magazine, which she serves as Editor for Daily Offices. Her hymn texts were singled out as having particular excellence: "Hymnal editorial is unique. The entrant's work is written in a style that provides the readers with structure, unified verse and uplifting throughout. Well done. Her lovely writings must give hope to countless people. She is a true poet." All the award-winning hymns appear in her two collections of hymn texts published by OCP, Take with You Words and Voices from the Valley.

A Child Is Born for Us
A Child Is Born for Us
A Just Man Honored from Above
All Heaven's Fields Were Yours by Right
All the Land Lay Barren
Arise, Stand on the Height
Around Your Table, Christ, We Sing
As Fall the Edges of the Night
As Falls the Night
As Far As West Lies from the East
As Morning Breaks from Night
As Morning Breaks from Night
At Dawn, The Empty Waters Mock
Be Glad of Heart, All You Who Seek
Before the Rising of the Sun
Before Us Lies an Endless Arid Land
Before Us Lies Jerusalem
Behold, before Our Wond'ring Eyes
Behold, before Our Wondering Eyes
Behold, before Our Wond'ring Eyes
Beneath the Clouds of Earth's Dark Night
Beneath the Cross the Mother Kept
Blessed Are You
Blest the Tree that Roots and Grows
Bright as the Sun, Fair as the Moon
Bright You Break the Bars of Darkness
Broken Cisterns Walled in Stone
Christ Comes, the Promised Peace of God
Christ Comes, the Promised Peace of God
Christ in the Rubble
Christ Jesus, Come to Us in Faith
Come, Watch and Wait
Compassion Walks the City Street
Desert Silence Waits for Word
Farther than the Farthest Sun
Farther than the Farthest Sun
From the Heart of Silence
God of Mystery, God of Mercy
God's Wisdom Spreads Her Table Well
God's Peace Flows Down in Silent Streams
Good Master, We Are Debtors
Have Mercy, Lord, We Cry
Healer of the House of Jacob
Her Faith a Cup Held Out to God
Holy, Holy, Holy Cry
How Blest the Listening Heart
How Far beyond the Setting Sun
How Long, O Christ, We Seek You
How Lovely Are Your Courts
In Darkness
In Days that Remembrance Holds Dear
In Justice Joseph Lived
In Robes Washed White, With Palms Held High
In Silent Strength
In Splendor 'Round Jerusalem
Joy and Sorrow, Light and Glory
Lady, Queen of Heaven
Let Us Boast Not in Foolishness
Let Us Give Thanks for This Good Man
Let Us Raise High Our Songs of Joy
Like Abraham of Old
Lord Jesus, Give Us the Bread of Life
Mary, Clad in Sun Fire
Mary, Mother, Cup of Peace
Now Robed in White
O Christ upon the Cross of War
O Christ, in Your Pity
O Christ, Unshielded and Unspared
O Christ, You Reign in Splendor Robed
O Christ, You Reign in Splendor Robed
O Christ, You Speak the Names of God
O Christ, You Speak the Names of God
O Dayspring of the Long Sought Day
O God of Past and Present
O God, the Midday Sun Burns Hot
O God, You Flamed on Sinai's Height
O Heavens, Open from Above
O Heavens, Open from Above
O Lord of Darkness and of Light
O Love of God Incarnate
O Love That Never Fails
O Silence Sonorous with Word
O Silence Sonorous with Word
O Spirit of the Living Lord
O Spirit of the Living Lord
O Tree of Life, By Running Stream
O Word of God, Before the Light
O Word of God, In Flesh You Came
Oh, How the Longing Heart Like Incense Curls
On the Day of Your Great Coming
Our Thirst Is Deep, O God
Rock Slashed by Spear, O Fountainhead
Rock that Rises in the Desert
She Heard a Voice that Spoke Her Name
She Knew No Man, She Bore No Child
Shepherd, Lead Us to the Place
Shout Praise, Shout Praise, O Israel
Sing Praise to God, the Gardener
Sing We Now the Glorious Martyrs
Sing, O Daughter Zion
Tall Stands the Tree beside the Stream
The Apple Tree Spread Wide Its Shade
The Bearers of the Living Word
The Caverns of the Heart Are Deep
The Cunning Desert Tempter
The Dark Enclosing Tomb of Night
The Dark Enclosing Tomb of Night
The Desert Sun Burns Sharp and Hot
The Height of Love
The Lamb of God Stands on the Height
The Standing Grain Is Fresh and Fair
The Star of Morning
The Thorn Tree
The Thresholds of God
The Voice That Summoned Abraham
The Waves of Fear Reach Heavenward
The Waves Play Sweetly in the Sun
The Word Went Fishing by the Sea
Though Martha Served, Complaining
Today, O Heav'ns, Acclaim the Morning Star
Transfiguration
Upon the Bare and Rocky Height
Upon the Far Horizons Lies a Cloud
Upon Those Shoulders
Upon Your Holy Mountain
Upon Your Holy Mountain
We Hasten to You Hungry
We Sing the Lamb Who Once Was Slain
We Sing the Lamb Who Once Was Slain
We Watch for You, O Lord, Till Break of Day
When Christ in Majesty Returns
When Nets and Boats Are Gone, What Then?
When Signs of This World's Anguish
When Signs of This World's Anguish
When Walls of Fear Entomb Us
Where Briars Grow
Where Once the Fragrant Cypress Spread
With Empty Hands and Empty Hearts
Woman of the Light
Word of God, You Spoke Creation
You Gather In the Outcast
You Walked Beside the Teeming Sea
