Hermana Glenda

BiographyProductsCompositions
Born in Chile, Hermana Glenda began expressing her musical gifts, and a fondness for liturgical music, from her earliest years. In 1988, at the age of 17, she became a member of the Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation. She knew she had found her vocation and her home. "That's what I've always done," she says, "console and comfort people; and that's what I'll keep on doing."

After completing her novitiate and postulancy in Chile, she studied philosophy in Argentina while also working as a secondary school teacher. She made solemn vows at the order's headquarters in Spain, then traveled to Rome, where she spent three years studying theology. Presently, she is completing studies in psychology and working in youth ministry.

It was while performing her songs at a music festival in Spain that she was "discovered." Enchanted by the poetry, spiritual insight and beauty of her compositions, the director of the festival invited her to record her debut album, A Solas con Dios. Today, Sister Glenda's songs are known and loved throughout Latin America, Spain and the United States.

In 2002, she was invited to perform her popular song "Nada Es Imposible para Ti" for Pope John Paul II and those attending the Papal Mass at World Youth Day in Toronto. She has given concerts in the principal cities of Mexico, as well as in Miami and Orlando.

In addition to her debut album, she has five other recordings of music: Tengo Sed de Ti, Con Nostalgia de Ti, Para Ti Toda Mi Música and a two-volume set called Consolad a Mi Pueblo. Her latest collection A Solas con María is a simple but profound musical tribute to the most holy mother of Jesus.

Inspired by the words of the prophet Isaiah -- "comfort, give comfort to my people" -- Hermana Glenda writes music that consoles, strengthens and uplifts. Gifted with an angelic voice and a seemingly supernatural ability to set Scripture reflections to music, she is a gift to the church and the world.

A Solas con María

Hermana Glenda's fourth album is a simple but profound musical tribute to the most holy mother of Jesus. Similar in style to her previous recordings, these 12 songs will delight listeners everywhere.
