Bio

Tony Barr is a composer and musician who worked with Bernard Huijbers beginning in the mid-1970s, translating Oosterhuis songs for the church in Britain. He founded Jabulani Music in order to distribute and secure copyrights of this work. Regular visits to Amsterdam made him an associate of Tom Löwenthal and others in the Dominicus and Student Churches in Amsterdam. He studied theology at Durham in northeast England.

From 1974 to 1979, Tony was a member of the St. Thomas More Centre in London, working as the music and liturgy director. He also worked with the Brentwood Diocesan Liturgy Commission conducting workshops in liturgical formation and worship.

Tony settled in the United States in 1985, establishing an international panel of liturgical musicians to evaluate Oosterhuis translations, which OCP has published.
