John Flaherty has been involved in music and educational ministry for 25 years as an educator, elementary school principal, music director, liturgy director, and composer. He has been a teacher on the elementary, secondary, and college levels.John has served as music director and chairman of the liturgy committee for the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress since 1991. He has been a contributing writer for Modern Liturgy, Pastoral Music, Our Family and Hosanna magazines. He has served on the editorial boards of Table, Hosanna, and Modern Liturgy. John has worked extensively with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Presently, John works at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, serving as director of liturgy and music, teaching in the Center for Religion and Spirituality, and participating on the campus ministry team.
He lives in Long Beach, California, with his wife, Kathleen, and their five children.
