Using the English translation from The Book of Common Prayer, the four movements of this mass setting, a “Communion Service for the Incarnation” all incorporate some portion of the Introit for Christmas Day “Puer natus est nobis” for motivic coherence. Employing dense harmonic language in a largely homophonic choral texture, large vocal ranges, some divisi writing, irregular and mixed meters, and a full organ accompaniment, this piece is intended for advanced choirs. Not for use in Catholic liturgies.
