Bio

Cuban composer †Alfredo Aníbal Morales (1927–2012) graduated with a degree in piano, theory, solfeg, harmony and music history from the Music Studio Lecuona in Habana, Cuba. Later, he studied harmony and composition. The Pontifical Institute St. Pius the Tenth in Salamanca published these compositions which had been approved by the Cuban Bishops who gathered together for Vatican II.

Alfredo’s style searched for ways to express faith in song using the native rhythms of Cuba. His music is included in OCP’s Spanish language and bilingual hymnal, Flor y Canto.

He lived in the Dominican Republic teaching liturgical music classes for choir directors in parishes until his death in 2012.
