Co-founder of the Howard University Gospel Choir at the historically black college in Washington, D.C., †Leon C. Roberts (1950–1999) helped establish Rejoice, an ongoing series of conferences on black Catholic liturgy.
Recorded in 1985 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., Leon’s collection Deliver the Word represents a great contribution to gospel music in America and also includes his well-known song "The Light of the World.”
