Bernadette Gasslein is a renowned writer and presenter on Catholic topics. She has travelled from sea to sea in Canada, giving workshops on liturgy (and liturgical music) and catechesis. Her experience includes four years as a project specialist with the National Office of Religious Education of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, as well as more than two decades as editor of the award-winning pastoral periodical, Celebrate!
Bernadette is currently editor of the liturgical journal Worship, the original English-language periodical of the liturgical movement in North America, published by the Benedictine monks of Saint John’s Abbey, Collegeville, Minnesota. She is the author of several popular small books on the liturgy, and recently contributed several original hymns to Unite Our Hearts: Hymn Texts by Women, published by OCP.
Bernadette holds a license in sacred theology with a specialization in pastoral catechetics from the Institut Catholique de Paris and an Associateship in Performance in Piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto. In 2014, she was named Catholic Communicator of the Year by the Association of Roman Catholic Communicators of Canada.
Since 1998, Bernadette has made her home in Edmonton, where she is a member of Resurrection Parish and of its music ministry.
