Bio

†Oliver Douberly (1948–2012) served parishes in Alabama and Virginia and was assistant musical director and accompanist for the Virginia Choral Society. He was a featured organ recitalist at the Third International Congress for Roman Catholic Musicians in Rome, Italy. He also founded the Oklahoma City Archdiocesan Chorale.

Oliver taught extensively for the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, and was the former program director of the NPM Choir Director Institute. Oliver studied under Sue Seid-Martin at the Eastman School of Music and received a master’s in music from the University of Oklahoma. After completing his doctor of musical arts degree at Oklahoma, he was awarded an organ fellowship at Washington Cathedral.

He is the author of the Pastoral Press book Choir Director Basics.

He retired in 2011, after 23 years, from the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Oklahoma City, as the Director of Music and Organist.
