One Thing Have I Asked of the Lord (Psalm 27)

Eric J. Milnes

One Thing Have I Asked of the Lord (Psalm 27)

Dealing with the topics of comfort and eternal life/heaven, this is an appropriate piece for funerals. With its secondary emphasis on the body of the Church, however, it can also be used at the dedication of a church. Beginning with an organ introduction into a baritone solo, the divisi SATB choral parts that enter later are largely homophonic. The organ provides a murmuring but active accompaniment throughout the middle of the work.
