Suitable for funeral liturgies, the lyrics of this piece are based on the “Nunc Dimittis” (Luke 2). A simple accompaniment for keyboard (or guitar) with a slowly descending stepwise bassline subtly underscores the lyrical emphasis on a life well spent and the approaching time of eternal rest.
