Bio

Originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico, Damaris Thillet is director of the office of worship in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, New Mexico, as well as president and co-founder of the Asociación de Músicos Pastorales Hispanos del Este (AMPHE). With 40 years of experience in music ministry, she is a nationally recognized composer, clinician and recording artist. She frequently collaborated with her late husband, Diego Correa, on collections including Del Pesebre a la Cruz and Todo lo Podemos en Dios. They served together in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Camden, New Jersey.

Damaris studied music education with a vocal concentration at Temple University and liturgy at La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was part of the team that developed the songs accompanying the new Roman Missal in Spanish for the United States. She provides music workshops and conferences for pastoral musicians around the United States and the Caribbean.

In 2005, she was recognized by the City of Philadelphia for her contribution and dedication to the community through the arts, music education and her service to the Church. In 2015, she was invited to lead the Hispanic Archdiocesan Choir at the closing Mass for the World Meeting of Families in the United States during the visit of Pope Francis. Damaris and her late husband Diego were also selected as two of the Prominent Hispanics Honorees of Southeast New Jersey in commemoration of National Hispanic Heritage Month that year. In 2016, she received the Adelante Hispanic Heritage Award in Vineland, New Jersey.
